Happy New Year 9th Grade Parent Alumni and Friends

This is Larry Evans saying “Hi” and Welcoming you to return (if you like)
and bring anyone else to the 2002 DCTS Parent Seminar.

I’m still teaching the Personal and Social Responsibility course at Dauphin County Tech and we’re opening the class again this year for all who would like attend.  So please feel free to attach this document on an email to a friend you think may be interested.

The program now has a 16-year proven record that encourages the development of the “soft skills” necessary for successful employment.  Four affective skills are taught: 1) Respect for Self and Others, 2) Responsibility FORyourself and TO others, 3) Relating Effectively and 4) Problem-Solving/ Goal-Setting.

The social skills parents want for their teenager are the same necessary for the world of work.  Often, however, different terms are used and the teen does not see the connection between what’s being taught at home and in school.  That is why this seminar for parents is so important.  We will “team-up” to greater assure your child’s success.

The Seminar consists of six classes, with each class offered three times per week for your scheduling convenience (see schedule above).  You may choose any combination of classes and do not have to attend them all.  All classes are in the auditorium of Dauphin County Technical School.  Please bring any interested person you may know—even your upper class teen if they want to attend.

Sincerely,

Larry Evans
9th grade facilitator, DCTS
