J As you may
know, I teach Personal and Social Responsibility at
Dauphin County Technical School. This program now has an 18-year
proven track record encouraging the development of
the social skills necessary for successful employment and
interpersonal relations. The main
purpose of the class is to help individuals TAKE CONTROL
of their lives, rejecting the INVITATION from others to
worry, become angry or depressed. We will learn how
to keep negative people or difficult situations from
bothering us so much. The
success of this program has been due in part to over 1800
parents, alumni and friends whove previously
attended this annual seminar (some numerous times).
You will be re-introduced to specific techniques that can
be used to support ones personal growth. Because
of the sensitive nature of social skills they are often
not discussed until its too late. Those
of you whove been part of this class before may
recall the essence of the material, but the impact may be
fading. COME BACK FOR A RE-FRESHER!!! The
Seminar consists of six classes (see
schedule on other side). You may come either the
TUESDAY or WEDNESDAY classes or any combination and do
not have to attend them all. All classes are in
the auditorium of DC-TECH and its FREE. Just
bring yourself, a friend (if you want) and a pen. All
other materials will be provided. The material
focuses on helping teenagers take charge of their lives,
but everyone can benefit. I continue to take
my own class and grow each year. Each Spring I
look forward to the Parent Seminar with increasing
desire, especially now that my wife and I have two hormonally
turbulent teenagers ourselves. For 36 years Ive
been teaching them but now having them adds a humbling
dimension. Never before have I had to practice at
home more what I teach. Again,
feel free to bring along any other interested
person you may know. Sincerely, Larry
Evans
