| Dear Parents, Family Members and Friends, Recently an effort was begun to introduce the affective skills education to a Harrisburg area school district. This was the beginning of a journey, that has seen others desire to reach out and introduce the affective skills education, in their home school districts as well. With that in mind, the "School Partners" program was begun. We are now looking for parents, family members and friends who have been impacted by the DCTS programs in affective skills, to share their personal experiences with interested school administrators, principals and teachers in their school district. As a School Partner, you will partner with us in introducing and supporting your school district's efforts to develop and implement affective skills education within their curriculum. Our hope is that with your help, the benefits of affective skills will reach each school district's faculty, parents and students. Beyond that, our hope is that an impact will be seen in each of our communities as well. Would you like to see affective skills education work in your district? Do you have the desire and ambition to volunteer your time, talents and abilities with us to pursue this goal? We hope you do!!! This process is truly a partnership, you will never be alone. The core members of Larry Evans, Myles Miller and John Borland, along with other School Partners, will be there with you, to support, advise and help throughout this journey. As a School Partner you are a true partner in a working team, dedicated to spreading the benefits of affective skills. We are in this together. Here is a brief summary of what a "School Partner" role includes: 1. Have a desire, drive and ambition to promote the benefits of the Affective Skills program. 2. Partner with our core members in developing a strategy and an initial school district representatives contact list. 3. Make initial phone contacts with designated school district representatives. 4. Arrange for a meeting time and place for our first presentation to the school district representatives. 5. Plan with core members, the initial meeting agenda. 6. Attend the initial meeting with school district representatives and core members. 7. Follow-up with school district representatives to monitor and assist their progress as needed. 8. Meet with other "School Partners" to review steps being taken and ongoing efforts in each school district. 9. Be a point of contact for your school district for ongoing questions and support. 10. Celebrate the successes, small
or large, with others as they occur. |
