Thank you for your email concerning the character education program at the Dauphin County Technical School.  We are delighted to hear about functioning programs - and the successes they are achieving - and appreciate the time you took to contact Senator Schwartz. 

Senator Schwartz hopes to be able to visit schools with character ed programs in various parts of the State throughout the coming fall and next year.    Accordingly, I have faxed a copy of your email and of my response to Lesley Seitchik in Senator's District Office. Lesley is responsible for planning the character ed visits.  I will strongly encourage her to try to schedule a visit to your institution.  She will, of course, be in touch with you or Mr. Evans to arrange a convenient time for this visit. 

Although Senator's legislation has passed the Senate, it is currently sitting (as we say!) in the House Education Committee.  That Committee is chaired by Rep. Jesse Stairs of Westmoreland County. His office addresses are either 43A East Wing, House Box 202020, Harrisburg, PA  17120-2020 or RD#1, Acme, PA 15610.  It would be very helpful if you would contact Rep. Stairs concerning your support of Senator's legislation.  Rep. Nailor of Cumberland County is also on the Committee.  He can be contacted at 783-5282 in Harrisburg or at 761-4665 in Camp Hill.  A phone call to him would also be very helpful.
