Parent Exploratory Group...

The following is a listing of information and meeting summaries regarding the meetings of the Parent Exploratory Group (PEG).

The Parent Exploratory Group is a newly formed local support group for graduates of the DCTS Parent Seminar and other interested parents and friends. The central focus of PEG is to produce an intimate and caring environment in which we parents can grow together in further learning and more fully applying the affective skills that were introduced in the Parent Seminar.

This journey to more effective personal relationships is taking us through a mixture of activities to refresh seminar lessons, study reference materials, share personal and family experiences, and encourage constructive group discussion.

PEG meetings are scheduled approximately every other month at various locations in the general area of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as chosen by the group. The meetings are announced through "Words of Caring", via e-mail and here on the "Affective Skills Web Site". You may come to any or all meetings as you wish. Our meetings of PEG are open to all.

While unfortunately PEG can only be made available to Harrisburg area parents, we will try our best to provide those valuable and printable outcomes of PEG meetings to our larger parent community here on the web and through the pages of Words of Caring.

We sincerely wlecome you to join us.

Next PEG Meeting --

PEG is for You --
It was decided by the members at the May 20, 2004 meeting of the Parent Exploratory Group (PEG) not to set a specific date for the next PEG meeting. This was partly in response to the request by John Borland for some assistance with organizing PEG activities so that he can devote more time to his family. But this decision generated with regard to PEG scheduling was also a recognition by the members as to the very nature of the Parent Exploratory Group.

PEG News --

First PEG Meeting in 2004 --
Well, modern computer technology is really great… when it works.

Larry encountered some internet-related, technical difficulties, not of his making, and so we were unable, this time, to view the PBS video, “Inside the Teenage Brain.”

But it was not at all to worry, because this small gathering of some of the regular members of the Parent Exploratory Group (PEG) has never been at a loss for something constructive to talk about, and tonight was no exception. We started in, without dropping a beat, to talking about our teens and we dedicated parents who love them. (full story)
