To A Very Special Teenager

-- Author Unknown --

We are your parents and we love you very much. Because we care so deeply for you, we will risk your love for us in order to do the right thing for you.

We are not trying to limit your freedom with the rules that we ask you to follow. We are giving you guidelines for the important decisions every young person must make -- from choosing the right friends to a reasonable time to come home. You may think we are too strict or demanding, but we want you to develop the inner strength and character that will carry you through a lifetime and enable you to share God's love with others.

We may make mistakes as parents, just as we did when we ourselves were teenagers. We pray that we, and you, can learn from our mistakes. We hope that we will not forget what it is like to be young, and hope that you will forgive us when we do.

Someday you will understand what a special joy it is for us to watch you grow, change and become the wonderful person we know you can be.

Your loving parents.
